Monica Phelan

Prior to Painting Monica was a Potter in Annascaul.

She began painting in the Crawford College of Art and Design, where she finished with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Fine Art.

Her landscapes are steeped in a timeless world that is rich in history and geology.  This is evident in the findings of wedge tombs, pre-bog walls- and southerrains,  raths and much more.  This ancient past is scattered around the countryside and as such it lends another layer of wealth to what is my home in the Dingle Peninsula.  While spending time in the countryside
‘I am constantly searching for inspiration and indulging in one of my great pleasures.
I use oils in my work as they help me to convey the richness and atmosphere of a unique landscape.’

The heart of the Dingle Peninsula: the village of Annascaul lies among mountains, lakes and streams and is surrounded by history and beauty.
