Annascaul Tidy Towns Action Group-Multi Year Plan #2

In our last post regarding the Annascaul Tidy Towns Action Group Action Plan we explained that each year we make an entry and include objectives for the following years, in this case 2019-2021. Only one entry is allowed from each locality and the scope of the work is extensive.

The Plan is divided into categories and in this post we will discuss the “Community” category. This is about how ATTAG integrates with the whole community. There are Special awards available each year which help to recognise local effort. In 2019 we reviewed these awards and did not feel that they were relevant for a Village of our size. Communication is a big sub-category and apart from the ever reliable word of mouth we decided to expand our social media presence.

We now have what’s called a multi channel approach and so have the Facebook account, Annascaul Tidy Towns Action Group, a Twitter account, @TidyAG and an Instagram account, annascaultidytownsAG. These are the official sites and to be reliable are not to be confused with sites of similar names. We post regularly regarding work going on in the Village and sometimes indulge ourselves by posting views of our beautiful surroundings !!

In addition we have developed two websites, this one: annascaul.org and annascaul.community. The first is a general information site with very useful links to local services. The second is an exciting initiative to collate community archive photos, documents and information and present them on the website, more news of this soon.

We also use the local papers, publications and radio. We are fortunate to have a number of community workers who assist us in keeping the Village sparkling!! The Village is a popular tourist destination and we are developing a number of signboards to enhance the knowledge of our community. The latest board has just been erected outside the site of the Church of Ireland on Main Street.
That concludes this category explanation, sorry it was lengthy but you can see that there a lot to it!!
Keep sharing, liking and following and thanks for your support, go raibh maith agaibh!!!
